Red Riding Hood

An interesting movie. By the same guy who did Twilight. It had good effects and an interesting plot (even though we kind of all know the story...duh little red riding hood), but it's a grown up version. Amanda's good in it and the two guys are kind of hot...I didn't know who they were, but you can check them out below. Entertaining, but not going to win any awards.
Shiloh Fernandez (plays Peter)
Max Irons (plays Henry...kinda really digging him)
Amanda Seyfriend...gorgeous as always.

The Adjustment Bureau

This movie was kind of interesting, but definitely entertaining. It had a different kind of perspective. A lot of people didn't recommend it so I didn't go see it in the theaters, but I thought it was pretty good. I also thought it was going to be about the government, but it was more of a love story, which I liked. And I don't want to give away the ending so I won't tell you exactly what the plot was :) I like both Emily and Matt though too.
The dancers in it were really good. They are actually from the company Cedar Lake, which is the same name as in the movie.
I think she is so beautiful.

Black Swan

So I finally watched Black Swan.
Loved it. It was so creepy, but really good and enthralling at the same time. I couldn't take my eyes away. The dancing was amazing. The sets and costumes were to die for. And I am in love with Mila Kunis and Natalie Portman. She was so amazing in this. Now I know what everyone was talking about.
The story line was really different and I think that's what I liked the most. It's definitely not a movie that I would run out and buy after watching, but it's a must see. It makes you think a lot. It also made me miss dancing so much! And makes me want to get in shape! They are so tiny in this.
Look at this costume...gorgeous.
Seriously I'm pretty sure these are the two most beautiful people in Hollywood right now.

Blue Valentine

"I feel like men are more romantic than women. When we get married we marry, like, one girl, ‘cause we’re resistant the whole way until we meet one girl and we think, ‘I’d be an idiot if I didn’t marry this girl she’s so great’. But it seems like girls get to a place where they just kinda pick the best option… ‘Oh he’s got a good job.’ I mean they spend their whole life looking for Prince Charming and then they marry the guy who’s got a good job and is gonna stick around."

Ryan Gosling in Blue Valentine

I just watched this movie. It was so sad and depressing, but I liked something about it at the same time. I think it's the real life aspect. Kind of the same reason that I like "The Last Kiss" and "The Breakup", except there really aren't any funny parts in this one. It just shows what real life is. How some parts can be so great, and then sometimes it's just so hard. Same with a relationship. How they can take two beautiful people and make them look so ordinary. This movie would not be for everyone. Jake hated it. Just makes you think a lot. I hope that if I find someone that I'm crazy about we can make things work and stay together. I hope that my life works out and I'm happy :).

Country Strong

I have a new obsession...
This movie.
I loved everything about it. All the characters (and actors) and the story. I'm in love with Garrett Hedlund. I always wanted to end up with a cowboy...one with a nice voice is a plus :)
My three favorite parts I think were these:
1. When she sings to the little boy with cancer. The little boy was so cute. I cried :(
2. When these two sing together. I've posted this song on here before.
3. When Gwyneth sings "Coming Home". I also am obsessed with her dress. ahhh.

love in the 80's

"Whatever happened to chivalry? Does it only exist in 80's movies? I want John Cusack holding a boombox outside my window. I wanna ride off on a lawnmower with Patrick Dempsey. I want Jake from Sixteen Candles waiting outside the church for me. I want Judd Nelson thrusting his fist into the air because he knows he got me. Just once I want my life to be like an 80's movie, preferably one with a really awesome musical number for no apparent reason. But no, no, John Hughes did not direct my life."
- Olive Penderghast, Easy A
Seriously...she totally nailed it. Why can't life be like the movies sometimes?

The Romantics

Just watched this movie and it was so depressing. I hope that I am never in either of these situations.

1. I hope the man I am in love with is never about to marry another woman just because he is trying to be safe, even though he knows he should be with me and knows he loves me.

2. I hope the man that is marrying me isn't really in love with someone else. And that I'm smart enough to realize it and let him go if he is.

This movie is about a group of friends who get together for their friends' wedding. Katie Holmes plays the maid of honor to her best friend, who is marrying her old boyfriend (Josh Duhamel). Obviously if you couldn't tell they're still in love. Also, kicker...she went out with him the day before they got engaged and he didn't tell her. She found out when Anna Paquin (the bride) asks her to be the MOH. Don't worry, I didn't give away the whole story. You find out all of this in the first few minutes. You'll have to watch it to find out the rest. It's a good movie, but so depressing and NOT the right time for me to watch it. Lots of good actors and actresses though.

my weekend so far...

My weekend has been pretty boring. Between one too many episodes of SVU, continuous snow or rain, and basically being home alone, I was feeling slightly depressed...so I headed to the mall. Where I also started to feel a little depressed because it was filled with fun things to wear from spring, but when I looked outside it looked like January. Despite this, I decided to charge these little beauties to my Nordstrom card. Gotta love that. I won't next month :( That made me feel a little better. My go to on a bad day is shoes. Hopefully I can wear them soon. Anyway, do you like?
Yesterday I watched the movie Hereafter. It was actually really sad, but I liked it. I think if Matt Damon is in anything I would go see it. Not because I think he is hot (although he is attractive enough), but I think he is a good actor and I usually like the movies he is in.
I do way too much of this. I should probably cut it out. I need to get a life again. Maybe once summer gets here I will.

Ten Day "You" Challege - Day 3

Day 3 - three films
I figured I would pick these three movies, becuase they each come a different genre and they have some of my favorite actors and actresses in them. I like WAY too many movies to pick three favorites, so these are just three that a watch a lot.
1. Gladiator
2. He's Just Not That Into You

3. The Notebook

Not like the movies

Let's face it...life is not like the movies.

The songs Not like the Movies by Katy Perry and If this was a Movie by Taylor Swift sort of sum it up. At one point or another we kind of all wish for that fairy tale ending...or for the guy to be standing outside your window begging for you to come back to him. But in reality, they're going to let you get on the plane and leave. No one is going to come running down the terminal after you. No one is going to be standing outside with a boombox over his head.

That's sort of why the movies the "The Break Up" and "The Last Kiss" sort of hit home more for me...or maybe why I guess I can relate more to music than I can to movies. They seem to get it "more right". Now the song Last Kiss by Taylor Swift might have it right. You can plan for a change in the weather...but you probably didn't plan on him changing his mind. I'm not trying to be all depressing and melodramtic, but it's just true. We get so caught up in the romance of movies, but I just don't feel like it happens in real life. Take it from the movie "He's Just Not That Into You"...it's the exception, not the rule. Real life goes a little like this...you date someone for three years, and then you fight over something so stupid (lemons maybe?), or the person just doesn't change, or etc, and you break up and run into them on the street a couple of months later and say hi and thats it. Then at the end of that movie, you never find out what happens, because you probably hang out once or twice or go through a whole back and forth thing again and nothing ever happens. He doesn't sweep her off her feet and then they get married...he doesn't chase her down after she walks out of the apartment because he knows he's going to lose the best thing that ever happened to him, and he definitely doesn't do some crazy ariel jump across a building or what not to save her and tell her he loves her. Ok, he doesn't even show up with flowers to take her to the prom when they're 18 etc...

Besides, in the movies they never show the other girl who gets hurt when the "good" couple gets back together. What about her? Like in "Sweet Home Alabama"...what about her finance? I feel bad for him? He was in love with her...bought her an AMAZING Tiffany's ring! and then just gets dropped...but you're just supposed to be happy for the two that get back together. I love this movie, don't get me wrong. I'm just in one of the moods and thinking about the other side.

Anyway, as Taylor Swift and Katy Perry alude to, hoping for the best is all we can do. I guess that's one message they could be trying to get across. Or maybe just realizing what is reality. "If this was a movie, you'd be here by now..." Maybe Taylor means that we have to get over a childish dream and make our own life happen. He isn't showing up, he isn't going to come say sorry, or admit his mistake...so now she has a choice to make. Move on, or just keep waiting for something that probably won't happen. And maybe when Katy says, "If it's not like the movies, then that's how it should be...", she's saying don't settle. He's probably not going to run to your rescue or do some huge grand gesture to tell you he loves you, but you should feel the same way that you would if he did. Besides, if you don't have that amazing feeling, why are you with that person? Everyone deserves to be with someone that makes them the happiest person alive...to be with someone who will be there whenever you need them...and who would do anything for you...even if it's just in small ways, and not the way that the movies portray it. I guess I don't need someone to stop a plane for me. I just want someone to jump start my car when my battery dies...and hold me when I need a hug. I just want someone to stay. I don't want someone to have to chase me if I walk out the door, because I don't want a reason to walk out the door.

Anyway...those are my thoughts...

No Strings Attached

No Strings Attached
I literally laughed out loud multiple times during this movie. I thought it was so funny. It's not just a chick flick. Jake was dying too. Go see it.
Plus Natalie Portman is adorable. Looks wise and hilarious. Also, I didn't even know Lake Bell was in it, but I love her too.

Catwoman

Thank you Christopher Nolan, way to ruin Batman.

Anne Hathway is going to be playing the next Catwoman in the 3rd Batman (The Dark Knight Rises) by Nolan. Ummm worst pick ever?
She's awkward and not that great of an actress and definitely not sexy. I guess I shouldn't judge her until I see the movie, but I am. It makes me not want to go. How do you go from having Heath Ledger be one of your main characters to Anne Hathaway? She's supposed to be in girly romantic comedies. I don't know. Apparently Nolan's choice of female characters were Keira Knightley, Jessica Biel, Gemma Arterton, Kate Mara, and Charlotte Riley. All of which I think would have been better choices. Blake Lively, Natalie Portman, Naomi Watts and Rachel Weisz were also on the list possibly for one of the two female roles in the movie. Would have rather seen any of them too.

Sorry Anne, I don't want to be so mean, but I'm so disappointed. I hope you'll be better than I expect. I'm going to try and trust Christopher Nolan on this one, because I love his other movies.

Wizards to Mysteries?

I love Emma Watson's new hairstyle. I know she did it a while ago, but i just read that apparently she did it for a screen test to play Lisbeth Salander in the new remake of "The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo". That would make me happy, because I just finished reading this. I liked it...murder, mystery, etc....I'm now reading the second one (The Girl Who Played with Fire.) Anyway, I haven't seen the first make of the movie yet, but I was planning on renting it soon. I'll let you know how it is! But I love her hair, and I thought I would post some pictures. The last 3 are from her shoot for Allure right after she cut it. I think she's adorable.
